oomisoka 大晦日 is the japanese word for “new year’s eve” and this new year’s eve, i shall be doing what i do every year : stay at home and watch kouhaku 紅白 😀 the red-white singing competition! i

missed a bit of the beginning of the first half D: i turned on the tv to see ayu halfway through mirrocle world ;_; argh… but nevermind! i managed to catch hirai ken, wat, ikimonogakari and the usual enka singers. was also pleasantly surprised to hear “sen no kaze ni” though!

so far my favourite performance would be the studio ghibli special medley, which was conducted by the great hisaishi joe (he also played the piano for totoro’s theme) >w< it was my first time hearing the theme song for “ponyo of the cliff…” so adorable!!! i should watch the movie =w=

now i’m looking forward to the next half of kouhaku and the new year’s countdown in japan <3\

happy new year, everyone. may 2009 be a wonderful, exciting year for you!
