l'isle joyeuse

it’s been a long time since i’ve had some time off. these few weeks, for almost a month, i’ve been completing my assignments, siting for tests and writing my research papers. now don’t get me wrong; for i enjoy being kept busy. for me, there’s nothing as bad as having absolutely nothing to do!

tomorrow i’ll be leaving for (hopefully) a nice weekend in malacca with my family. it’s been a while since i’ve been there, and i’m looking forward to seeing the old streets filled with curio shops once more. the delight of exploring the antiques, covered with a thin layer of dust and discovering hidden gems amongst the rubble is really quite exhilarating. not to mention the snacks and street desserts sold at jonker street at night… also, a long-due visit to my favourite : the orang utan house!

am loving linguistics by the day… though sometimes i have funny questions at the back of my head. like, why are there mummies in egypt but no daddies? and why is an orange called an orange, but an apple not called red? why do we call dandruff dandruff? there are probably real answers to these questions but then again, the fun part is thinking up all the crazy answers that MIGHT make sense.
